Tight end Brock Bowers (knee) is active for the Las Vegas Raiders’ matchup vs. the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night, as confirmed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The Georgia product practiced on Saturday after not participating on Thursday and Friday.
The 22-year-old Bowers, who sustained the knee injury in the second half of the Raiders’ Week 1 win vs. the New England Patriots, has recently had brace over a sleeve on his left knee. Bowers racked up five catches for 103 yards prior to getting hurt and wanted to return to the game but was advised against it by the training staff.
“He practiced great,” Raiders head coach Pete Carroll said on Saturday via ESPN. “He did really well today.”
Bowers is coming off a phenomenal first pro season in which he led all rookie tight ends with 1,194 receiving yards.
While at Georgia, the 6-foot-3 Bowers captured back-to-back national titles and 2 straight John Mackey awards. Bowers also was a unanimous All-American and a First-team AP All-Time American. Bowers came out strong in his first college season, winning SEC Freshman of the Year.
As a high school prospect, Bowers was regarded as a 4-star recruit and the No. 2 tight end in the nation according to 247Sports.
Raiders TE Brock Bowers officially is active for tonight’s game vs. the Chargers.
