Jim Irsay’s daughter Carlie was plugged-in during Colts’ game

Fans could not help but notice how locked in Carlie Irsay-Gordon was during the Indianapolis Colts’ Week 2 contest against the Denver Broncos.

Irsay-Gordon was spotted on the sidelines wearing headphones and taking notes throughout the Colts’ 29-28 win over the Broncos at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. The striking image of the Colts owner in her blue-and-white striped shirt drew a lot of attention online.

Irsay-Gordon took over as the Colts’ CEO in May after the death of her father, longtime team owner Jim Irsay. However, it’s far from the first time Carlie has gotten involved with the action on the field.

Jim Irsay has been bringing Carlie along to team meetings since the early 2000s. Irsay-Gordon was donning headsets during Colts games long before she became CEO. In June, she explained the logic behind the practice.

“I need to be able to say, ‘Is this person full of BS? Do they even know what they’re talking about?'” Irsay-Gordon said, via The Athletic’s Stephen Holder.

“It is such a complex organism, a football team and how it operates…You could say, ‘Oh, that person ran that route wrong.’ Then you learn, ‘Oh, someone tagged the wrong WR and it wasn’t really the player’s fault, it was the person that called it.'”

One can only imagine the chaotic sounds in Irsay-Gordon’s ears during the chaotic ending of the Colts’ victory over the Broncos. Indianapolis benefited from a controversial call that helped them keep a spotless record in the Irsay-Gordon era.
