Is Patriots coach Mike Vrabel considering a kicker change?

FOXBOROUGH - Mike Vrabel says he’s not ready to move on from Andy Borregales.

The rookie kicker missed a 40-yard attempt in the Week 1 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, and didn’t connect on two extra points in Sunday’s 33-27 win over the Miami Dolphins.

Borregales did make a clutch 53-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter, with 1:47 remaining, which may have saved his job.

Vrabel continues to back the kicker - awarding him a game ball - saying he has “full confidence” in Borregales, who was taken in the sixth round.

“I don’t think we’re ready to have that conversation yet (about changing kickers),” Vrabel said during his Monday press conference. “He’s made every kick in the fourth quarter. He’s made meaningful kicks. That’s where I’m at. I wouldn’t have gone out there with Andy (on the 53-yarder), and it wasn’t like I debated long. He knows he has a job to do, and we have full confidence in him to do his job.”

Borregales was awarded the job over Parker Romo after a fierce training camp competition.

Romo, who laned on Atlanta’s practice squad after being released by the Patriots, went 5-for-5 on field goal tries Sunday night to back the Falcons 22-6 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

“I’m happy for Parker,” Vrabel said. I’m happy for Parker. That’s how it goes. He went down there, took advantage of his opportunities. I enjoyed my time with him here, so I’m happy that he went down there and helped himself.”
