Liverpool star hints he will one day share what Alexander Isak really said to him after…

Virgil van Dijk has suggested there is more to come from the fallout of Alexander Isak’s move to Liverpool from Newcastle United.

While Newcastle United are starting to move on from the Isak saga, there’s little doubt his actions before leaving the club sparked fury amongst the fanbase.

Indeed, the fact that Newcastle released a brutal statement confirming Isak’s British record move to Liverpool perhaps indicated the ill-feeling towards his actions prior to his departure.

Just 165 days passed between Isak scoring perhaps the most important goal in Newcastle’s recent history in the Carabao Cup final and him leaving for the team he downed at Wembley.

Shortly after the full-time whistle went at Wembley in March, Isak was seen embracing Van Dijk and the two appeared to have a small conversation.

Given all that happened this summer, it’s perhaps natural to assume Isak was saying something transfer-related to the Liverpool skipper.

Van Dijk has hinted that one day he will reveal all.

While Van Dijk suggested that he couldn’t actually remember what was said, he did also hint that he would one day lift the lid on it in the next few years to potentially add yet more drama to an already toxic situation.

“I’m not telling you!,” he said.

“Maybe in two years’ time or three years’ time, I will tell you. But not now. I can’t remember!”

Alexander Isak forced Eddie Howe into a U-turn at Newcastle United

Naturally, Eddie Howe was asked about the striker’s departure at his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s Premier League win over Wolves.

Though the Newcastle United manager was always respectful in his comments about Isak even when supporters had turned on him, he spoke more freely after the saga was finally over.

He admitted that his relationship with the player changed after he decided to leave the club in the lurch and force a move away.

“Alex and I always enjoyed a great relationship,” he said.

“I loved working with him and I hope he loved working with us. It was mutually beneficial. We helped him become the player that he in part is today. And he helped us as a team achieve some unbelievable milestones. He was part of a very successful team.

“But to give you a bit more on that, the moment he went on strike our relationship did change. I think that was probably a turning point in our relationship.

“Communication became difficult from that point onwards. I won’t go into any more detail than that.”

Isak is still to make his debut for Liverpool after he sat out of their win over Burnley, having made himself unavailable for Newcastle throughout pre-season and the start of the Premier League campaign.
