Alejandro Garnacho could be Manchester United’s key for victory against Chelsea, claims Wes Brown, ‘if someone can…’

Manchester United return to action next weekend with another big game, this time facing Chelsea.

The fixture list has posed an early challenge to Manchester United, facing Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea within the first five games.

United lost against Arsenal and City, and now head into the game with Chelsea desperate to make a statement victory.

The big subplot to the game is Alejandro Garnacho’s return to Old Trafford following his £40 million exit at the end of the transfer window.

Former player Wes Brown believes the Garnacho element could be the catalyst for United getting all three points.

Manchester United must use the crowd

The game against Chelsea will be Manchester United’s third home game of the season, and first since the 3-2 win over Burnley.

The late Saturday kick-off will be a must-watch, and Wes Brown believes that United must use the fans to create a high-energy atmosphere.

Brown believes that the antagonism towards Garnacho could create a spark if one of the United players can quickly lay down a marker with a strong challenge.

He told MUTV: “We’re gonna have to have courage. We’re gonna have to be strong. I think Chelsea are doing OK at the moment. If someone can smash Garnacho that’s even better.

“We need to make it a game where we get the crowd behind us, and we get opportunities.”

United have created chances this season but lacked a ruthless edge, and Brown believes United must start strongly.

“We want to create the chances, but let’s get one away. You’ve got to punish teams and and that’s where the more the attacking-minded players have got to be able to do that and do it early.

Garnacho will relish return

Alejandro Garnacho fell out with Ruben Amorim at the end of last season after he was dropped from the starting line-up for the Europa League Final.

Garnacho made critical comments in the Argentine press in the wake of the decision, prompting Amorim to tell him to find a new club.

The winger then turned down offers from other European clubs to push for a move to Chelsea, amid a desire to stay in the Premier League.

One reason Garnacho may have wanted to remain in England was the opportunity to prove Ruben Amorim wrong and get revenge on United.

It wouldn’t surprise anybody at United if Garnacho came back to haunt us, but as Wes Brown points out, there could be a way to flip his return to our advantage.
