Ruben Amorim has managed 31 Premier League games since joining Manchester United in November 2024.

Former players and fans have been critical of Amorim, as he seems unwilling to change from his 3-4-3 system at United, which is clearly not working for the Red Devils, leading many to suggest that there has been no improvement under the United boss since they sacked Erik Ten Hag last year.

The Portuguese manager has taken charge of 31 Premier League games since joining United in November. But what would the league table look like if it were based on results since Amorim’s hiring? ManchesterWorld decided to see just how bad it has been for the Red Devils...

Man United have been the worst team apart from relegated/promoted teams

The statistics certainly don’t help Amorim’s case at Old Trafford, as he has won just eight games in 31 in the league for United, drawing seven, and losing 16. It means that in 31 games, Amorim has managed to amass just 31 points during his time at United so far.

If the Premier League table were based on the dates since Amorim joined, United would rank 17th, or in other words, the worst out of the 17 teams that have been in the Premier League last season and this season.

Newly-promoted sides Burnley, Leeds and Sunderland can be discounted as they’ve played just four games. Furthermore, the relegated sides Southampton, Leicester and Ipswich have played four fewer games than United after they went down last season.

United are bottom of the 17 consistent teams, behind Tottenham in 16th, West Ham in 15th and Wolves in 14th. Based on that level of form, the Red Devils are closer to being relegation candidates under Amorim this season rather than European challengers.

Amorim will need to improve his side’s form quickly; otherwise, United could see themselves having to decide on his future, and potentially find themselves searching for a new manager yet again, to continue the post-Ferguson struggles.
