‘Powerful player’ – Ex-Leeds United star thriving after Elland Road exit

Leeds United got rid of several players during the summer transfer window who were deemed surplus to requirements or not good enough for the Premier League. One such star is now thriving and winning hearts at his new club this season.

The Yorkshire giants had a real churn of players in their squad following promotion to the Premier League. They brought in ten new signings, while a clutch of players left the club, including a few on the final day of the summer transfer window.

Daniel Farke had decided on the fate of certain players very early in the window, but it took them until late in the summer transfer period to find a new club. However, some of them are already thriving following their Elland Road exit.

Darko Gyabi is one such player. He hardly received a chance in the Leeds first-team, but the midfielder has already won over everyone at Hull City, where Joe Gelhardt has also impressed early in the campaign.

The ex-Leeds United midfielder has won over the Hull manager

Leeds allowed the midfielder to join Hull on a free transfer on deadline day, even though he had one year left on his contract at Elland Road.

Hull City boss Sergej Jakirovic has already been mightily impressed with what he has seen from the former Leeds midfielder and stressed that he is already very experienced and powerful for his age.

He hyped up his several qualities and is confident that Gyabi will not only improve this season, but will also enhance the team with his performances.

“He’s a very powerful, powerful player”, the manager told Hull Live.

“This is already an experienced player, a young player. I think it’s a very good investment for our club because of the age, because he’s now, together with Leeds, I think a 50/50 player, he’s a free player.

“We can improve him, he’s powerful, good on the ball, good in transitions, good height, so he’s what we’ve been looking for until now, and I hope he will improve our group a lot, especially in those positions in the midfield zone.”
