‘Relief’ for Brighton player as scans show no serious damage – Long-term absence ruled out

Brighton & Hove Albion’s Maxim De Cuyper is doubtful to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League later this weekend, according to Het Nieuwsblad.

The Belgium international left Club Brugge for Brighton in the summer window and has started in all four league games this season.

In his last outing against AFC Bournemouth, the left-back suffered a knee injury before Alex Scott opened the scoring in the 18th minute.

De Cuyper continued to push through before he wasn’t able to play for long and Fabian Hürzeler replaced him with Ferdi Kadıoğlu in the 24th minute.

The 24-year-old has undergone tests, and the report explain scan results have shown ‘no serious damage’ to his knee and this is a ‘relief’ for the player, and also the Seagulls and Belgium, who were concerned about losing him for October’s international break.

In short, De Cuyper won’t be on the sidelines for a long time, and this should please him and the Premier League club.

Het Nieuwsblad add the fullback’s intention is to try and make himself available under Hürzeler’s orders for the clash against Tottenham, but it’s not certain that he’ll be fit on time for Saturday’s match.
