View from the opposition: South London neighbours Millwall

Stat Attack

Millwall are winless in six fixtures against Palace, with three draws and three defeats. Their last win in this fixture was a 3-0 win on New Year’s Day in 2011.

Last time out

Despite not playing in the same division, Tuesday's tie is the third meeting between the two teams in 2025.

Looking past our pre-season victory over Millwall – a fixture rarely befitting of the world ‘friendly’ – it was as recently as 1st March when we last met our South London rivals in competitive action.

Indeed, the 100th competitive meeting between the two sides proved a typically eventful affair, with a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals on the line at Selhurst Park.

The incident involving Jean-Philippe Mateta and Millwall goalkeeper Liam Roberts after six minutes – saw the opposition goalkeeper dismissed, upon VAR review, for serious foul play. Making full use of their numerical advantage, Oliver Glasner’s side eventually proved too strong for the Lions.

The Palace goal arrived when Japhet Tanganga headed Will Hughes’ cross-shot into his own net from close range.

Soon after, Palace benefitted again from a spot of pinball when a Millwall clearance ricocheted into the path of Danie Muñoz, who stabbed home our second of the half.

Although Millwall did rally – a goal from Wes Harding giving them hope – Palace held out before rubber stamping a quarter-final place.

Nketiah got the goal his overall performance deserved, with a superb looping header that secured victory and a meeting with Fulham in the last eight.
