Failed double deal adds to Manchester United tension – Club tired of Ratcliffe situation

French side Nice tried to sign Kobbie Mainoo and Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United this summer but were given no encouragement by the Premier League side.

That’s according to ICI, who cover growing tensions between Nice and Manchester United as Sir Jim Ratcliffe continues to focus heavily on the latter.

The British billionaire and his company INEOS own both clubs but ICI report that the French club have been left in the dark over their owners intentions for the club. INEOS are expected to speaking in the current days to clarify the situation. This may come in the form of an interview.

They say the French project has been ‘quickly shelved’ after the purchase of Manchester United. They have been given priority status by Ratcliffe and his team.

The French side are officially for sale, but nobody has yet come forward with the €200m that INEOS want as yet. The future is uncertain for them, and that is causing tensions.

What is certain is that Ratcliffe is ‘doing nothing to help the Aiglons’. This was felt in the summer transfer window when Nice tried to secure loan deals for Kobbie Mainoo and Rasmus Hojlund.

They did this ‘without receiving the slightest help’ from Manchester United, who, instead, ‘tried to offload’ another young player to them. According to Nice’s staff, this ‘wasn’t up to scratch’.

They saw it as a clear signal from Manchester United and Ratcliffe that ‘cohabitation seems impossible’ for the moment.
