‘Ruthless monsters’ – Catalan newspaper warns Barcelona fans ahead of Newcastle United match

Newcastle United face Barcelona in their first Champions League group stage fixture at St James’ Park on Thursday.

The Magpies have one win from four league games while Barcelona are unbeaten in the league this season.

Barcelona have scored 13 goals and conceded three times in four league games and despite this, Sport have warned them to ‘watch out’ for Newcastle’s ‘ruthless monsters’ for their upcoming Champions League clash.

The Catalan outlet warn the La Liga winners about facing Newcastle star trio of Bruno Guimarães and Sandro Tonali and Joelinton.

Guimarães and the Italy international have formed a solid partnership in the middle of the pitch, along with 29-year-old Joelinton.

Sport tell their Catalan audience the midfield trio are the ‘most solid’ and are the backbone of the Tyneside club, and with Jacob Murphy injured, Eddie Howe is likely to start the 27-year-old Brazil international, Tonali and Joelinton against Barcelona.

They state: ‘And none of the three compromises on their defensive efforts, forming a midfield that fits together perfectly and is one of the best in Europe.’

The Catalan newspaper say the former Lyon man, the 25-year-old Italian and Joelinton aren’t high profile names, but the midfielder trio can scare anyone. Therefore, they warn Barcelona of Newcastle’s ‘ruthless monsters’ ahead of Thursday’s match.
