Liverpool are sitting at the top of the Premier League table with 12 points to their name.
The Reds have got their 2025-26 season off to a perfect start, if you exclude their Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace, of course, with the Reds proving their worth once again.
Arne Slot has spent over £400million on new players this summer, and although they’ve not gelled together just yet, it only feels like a matter of time before they start performing to the best standards possible.

And, although retaining the Premier League title will likely be one of Slot’s main goals this season, the Champions League will be the thing he’s keeping his eye on the most.
Alan Shearer says that teams should be worried that Liverpool are winning games despite not being at their best
One thing that has been made clear in the 2025-26 season is that Liverpool are not at their best yet.
Players such as Milos Kerkez are getting taken off in the first half, while others, such as Florian Wirtz, have only managed to get one goal contribution so far.
However, with the amount of quality that has been brought in, things can only get better, which is what Alan Shearer says Liverpool’s Premier League rivals should be worried about.
“I would be extremely happy if I were them, they’ve not played well at all, yet they’ve won four games out of four,” Shearer said while speaking on The Rest is Football Podcast.

“They’ve [also] got a £125million centre-forward to come in as well.”
Gary Lineker then jokingly asked: “Who’s that Al?”
To which Shearer replied: “I dunno, I’ve forgot his name, I’m not sure.
“I would be really happy with that [four wins out of four], you’d have to be wouldn’t you.
“For the other teams, it has to be really worrying that they’ve been nowhere near their best but they’ve won four out of four, they’ve found a way!”
Liverpool must ensure that they keep their solid run of form up
Although Liverpool have been rather lucky with their results this season, it still feels like more can come from the Reds.
Indeed, there have been glimpses of the team that Liverpool could become this term, but since we’re only four games into the Premier League season, it’s clear that more needs to come from the Anfield outfit.
The Reds are set to play their first Champions League game of the campaign on Wednesday, with their opponents being Atletico Madrid.

Much like Burnley, Diego Simeone’s men will be set up in a low-block with only one or two players in their attack.
So, if Liverpool want to get their Champions League campaign off to a good start, plenty more chances need to be created with each player doing their part.
Otherwise, they could end up drawing the game or even conceding a sloppy goal, resulting in a defeat, which would be far from ideal.
