“Truly incomprehensible” – Journalist left shocked by Brentford man, not what he’d seen

Jordan Henderson’s performance for Brentford in the draw with Chelsea has left watchers in the Netherlands bemused.

That’s at least according to Voetbal Primeur and the latest comments from journalist Johan Derksen, who found Henderson’s display for Brentford “totally incomprehensible”.

Henderson was a key player in Brentford’s 2-2 draw against Chelsea on Saturday, providing a superb assist for Kevin Schade’s opening goal in that game with a long range through ball to set the winger through before converting.

That was part of an all-action display in the middle of the park for the English midfielder, who has quickly established himself as a key player under Keith Andrews at the start of this season.

Few had expected him to play such a key role after his arrival from Ajax, where he had failed to earn many admirers after signing on a free transfer in the January transfer window last year.

Driessen was one of those who watched him regularly for the Dutch giants and was left shocked by what he saw from him over the weekend in the eventual 2-2 draw with Chelsea.

“I was watching Match of the Day yesterday and I saw that idiot from Ajax playing for Brentford,” he said on Vandaag Inside.

“He suddenly made decisive passes over sixty yards. He played incredibly well. That’s truly incomprehensible.”
