Metallica at Super Bowl LX? Usher Is Here for It

Metallica fans have been ready for their band to shred the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show ever since drummer Lars Ulrich gave a big "f-k yeah" when asked if the band would play Super Bowl LX if invited. Now, the rockers' loyal fan base can add another supporter to their list: Usher.

The R&B icon - who performed at the 2024 Super Bowl - had only one artist in mind when recently asked by *TMZ*who he would like to hit the stage at the 2026 show.

"Metallica," the "Yeah" singer responded, much to the TMZ reporter's delight.

Usher's remark comes just one month after Ulrich revealed that the Master of Puppets rockers - who are San Francisco natives, where Super Bowl LX will be held - would say yes to the Halftime Show, no hesitation, if the group were asked.

"F–k yeah, of course, we would. First of all, we would do it. Second of all, to do it in San Francisco would be a dream come true and would be the right fit," Ulrich told Howard Stern in August. Though the metal icons "haven't been approached" about the possibility, "Certainly, as somebody who's represented San Francisco all over the world and shouted for decades about San Francisco and our love for the Bay Area, that part of it is the right fit."

But "ultimately," he explained, "it's not our decision."

NFL Head Honcho Wants Metallica to Perform - If They Cover Taylor Swift

While Metallica's name is (unofficially) in the ring for 2026 halftime show candidates, there's one artist whose name has risen above all: Taylor Swift.

In addition to her wildly successful music career, Swift is, of course, engaged to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce - who has three Super Bowl rings.

Even NFL commissioner Roger Goodell joked that if Metallica were to perform at next year's Super Bowl Sunday, they'd have to sing several Swift hits.

"Look, obviously there is no bigger fan of Taylor Swift than me," Goodell told Rock Feed back in April. "These Metallica fans won't stop complaining so to compromise, if they cover at least three T-Swift tracks, they can play!"
