Donald Trump demands NFL change ‘ridiculous’ rule

President Donald Trump is unhappy with a rule change that was made permanent in the NFL ahead of the 2025 season and is demanding that it be reversed.

Trump posted on Truth Social over the weekend about his frustration with the NFL becoming “sissy” football after it made changes to its kickoff rules for this year.

Beginning this season, a touchback gives the offense the ball at the 35-yard line. Because of that, kickoff teams are trying to avoid surrendering a touchback.

In addition, starting in 2024 and continuing in 2025, kickoff teams, other than the kicker, line up at the opponent‘s 40-yard line, while the receiving team, other than the two returners, line up at their own 35.

The players lined up at the 40 and 35 are not allowed to move until the ball is touched by the returner.

The result has been less violent collisions, but according to Donald Trump, the football is also not as exciting as it used to be.

“The NFL has to get rid of that ridiculous new Kickoff Rule. How can they make such a big and sweeping change so easily and quickly," Donald Trump said. “It’s at least as dangerous as the ‘normal’ kickoff, and looks like hell.

“The ball is moving and the players are not, the exact opposite of what football is all about.”

Trump continued, praising college football and blasting the National Football League.

“‘Sissy’ football is bad for America and bad for the NFL!” he said. “Who comes up with these ridiculous ideas? It’s like wanting to ‘roll back’ the golf ball so it doesn’t go (nearly!) as far.

“Fortunately, college football will remain the same, hopefully forever!!”

Trump is an outgoing sports fan who isn’t afraid to speak his mind. He clearly is not pleased with the way the NFL is being played at the moment and would like to see some changes.
