“[Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift] are getting married”: ESPN Host Pushes Wild Conspiracy That…

Think the Kansas City Chiefs will start this season 0-3? ESPN New York radio host Don La Greca thinks otherwise. On his show Monday, alongside Alan Hahn and Peter Rosenberg, La Greca argued the league simply won’t allow it. His reasoning: the Chiefs are a massive national draw, and several upcoming games are slated for prime-time television.

The Giants, sitting 0-2, are next on the schedule, but according to La Greca, that alone doesn’t tell the whole story.

La Greca’s theory hinges on the intersection of ratings, national exposure, and high-profile players. He suggested that with major games against the Giants, Ravens, and Jaguars coming up on “Sunday Night Football” and “Monday Night Football,” the NFL has a vested interest in a Kansas City win.

To illustrate the point, he invoked a high-profile celebrity connection, noting the engagement of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and pop star Taylor Swift. He implied the league would avoid a scenario that could dampen fan interest.

La Greca framed it bluntly on air:

“There’s too much on the line, I’m sorry. Call me a conspiracy theorist. ESPN can fire me. The NFL is not going to allow the Kansas City Chiefs to lose that game on national television and be 0-3. What are you gonna do? [Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift] are getting married later. They’re engaged. … I’m telling you we’re gonna sit here next Monday and we’re gonna say, I’m telling you, there’s gonna be at least three calls where we’re going to be like, how did that happen?”

When pressed on whether the Chiefs really need the help, given the Giants’ struggling start, La Greca softened slightly but doubled down on the league’s influence.

“Honestly, people, rise up. Cmon, speak our minds here. Is there any world where the NFL is going to say, ‘whatever we do make sure the Giants win this game.’ Goodell will run on the field.”

This week’s matchup is the first of several nationally televised games for Kansas City, including contests on Sept. 28 against the Ravens and Oct. 6 against the Jaguars. It marks the Chiefs’ first 0-2 start since 2014, giving La Greca’s theory extra context and fueling discussion among fans and analysts alike.
