Senne Lammens’ older brother admits feeling ‘sceptical’ about the summer transfer to Manchester United.
Manchester United opted to sign a new goalkeeper during the summer, with Senne Lammens arriving from Royal Antwerp in a deal worth £18.1 million.
Altay Bayindir has started every Premier League game for United this season, while Andre Onana has joined Trabzonspor on loan.
Ruben Amorim decided to keep Lammens out of the line-up for United’s 3-0 defeat to Man City on Sunday, but the 23-year-old goalkeeper could make his debut this weekend when Chelsea visit Old Trafford.
A lot has been written about the pressure Lammens will face at United, especially being a young goalkeeper with limited experience, having yet to appear on the senior international stage.
Only time will tell if Lammens proves to be a long-term success at United.

Senne Lammens’ brother questioned Man Utd transfer
Lammens’ older brother was initially unsure about the move to Old Trafford.
The Premier League will be a huge step up from the Belgian league, although it sounds like Amorim is willing to take his time introducing his new goalkeeper.

Lammens was named on the bench for the Manchester derby, while Bayindir got the nod for the fourth consecutive league match.
Speaking with Het Nieuwsblad, Lammens’ brother, Tom, has explained that he initially felt a move to Galatasaray made most sense as they were competing in the Champions League. He was also mindful of players who failed to reach their full potential at Old Trafford.
“There’s a lot of quality, you play for trophies there [Galatasaray], and Senne could perhaps immediately make his mark in the Champions League,” his brother said.
“I was initially sceptical about a move to United, because many players there had already succumbed to the pressure and couldn’t reach their full potential.”
Why Lammens signed for Man Utd over Galatasaray
United were clear favourites to sign Lammens, despite the attempts made by Galatasaray.
Tom Lammens went on to explain that United’s goalkeeper scout, Tony Coton, made a good impression on the stopper as he’d be tracking him for the best part of a year.
“But ultimately, it was Senne who had to make the decision,” Tom continued. “United gave him the best feeling. Partly because Tony Coton, United’s goalkeeping scout, had been following him for almost a year and was very convinced of his qualities.
“It would also be great if the club could return to its former glory and if Senne could contribute to that.”
