Morgan Rogers says Manchester City sold the best one on one defender he's ever seen

Morgan Rogers believes that Manchester City sold one of the best one vs one defenders he’s ever seen during the summer transfer window.

Pep Guardiola’s team were active in the summer transfer window, bringing in multiple new players in different areas of the pitch, both offensively and defensively.

However, Manchester City also allowed several notable players to leave the club who had been a big part of their success, such as Kevin de Bruyne and Jack Grealish.

That also included one of Manchester City’s most capped defenders, who played over 300 times for the football club.

Morgan Rogers has praised Kyle Walker’s ability

Kyle Walker left Manchester City during the summer in a £5million move to newly promoted side Burnley, ending his spell at the Etihad Stadium.

Walker won everything while playing for Manchester City, but moved on in search of regular game time for the final stages of his career.

However, when BBC 5 Live asked Rogers to name his all-time Premier League five-a-side team, Walker was the first name chosen.

“I’ll go Kyle Walker, [he’s] probably the best one v one defender that I’ve seen.”

Walker was joined in Rogers’ dream team by Virgil van Dijk, Cristiano Ronaldo, former Manchester City stars De Bruyne, and Yaya Toure.

However, Rogers highly praised the full-back’s ability to defend one-on-one situations, which he has been notorious for throughout his career.

Kyle Walker has proven his worth to Burnley

Some wondered whether Walker would still be able to cope with the pace and intensity of the Premier League after spending the second half of last season on loan at Inter Milan.

However, the opening four games have proven that Walker still has gas left in the tank to be a valuable asset to the Clarets throughout this season as they fight for survival in the top flight.

The past two seasons have seen all three newly promoted clubs instantly relegated back to the Championship, and Walker will attempt to stop that from a Burnley perspective.
