Manchester City travel to Arsenal on Sunday afternoon as Pep Guardiola’s men go in search of a huge win at the Emirates Stadium.
The contest is the first time the Manchester club will face one of their Premier League title rivals this season, and coming away from London with all three points would be a massive boost for City, especially after beating Man United last weekend.
The campaign so far has been up and down for Man City, with one of the big positives being the return to form of Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian and Man City will not be happy with the Premier League’s latest announcement, and it remains to be seen how it will affect their contest with Arsenal on Sunday.

Stuart Attwell appointed as referee for Arsenal vs Man City
The Premier League have confirmed the referees for this weekend’s round of matches, and Stuart Attwell has been named as the man in the middle for Arsenal vs Man City.
This will not go down well with many at Man City, as the last time the English official oversaw a big City match was the 2025 FA Cup final, where Attwell failed to send off Dean Henderson after handling the ball outside of his box.

With 24 minutes on the clock, the Crystal Palace goalkeeper handled the ball outside his box, palming it away from Haaland as the Man City forward tried to race onto a pass.
This decision would have a huge impact on the contest, as Henderson would go on to save a penalty from Omar Marmoush, which helped Palace lift their first-ever FA Cup crown.
This will unlikely be on the minds of Pep Guardiola’s squad heading into the Arsenal match; however, it is something they will not have forgotten.
The last time Stuart Attwell oversaw Arsenal vs Man City
The last time Attwell was in charge of an Arsenal vs Man City match in the Premier League was in January 2022, which ended in a 2-1 win for Guardiola’s men thanks to goals from Riyad Mahrez and Rodri.
The contest was not without incident though, as Attwell sent off Gabriel, and Man City’s equaliser came from the penalty spot after VAR overturned the English official’s decision not to award the spot-kick.
This may be a sign of things to come at the weekend, but that will not be creeping into the minds of Man City’s squad ahead of Sunday’s clash.
