Wolves had plenty of major outgoings this summer, however the club was able to keep talisman Jorgen Strand Larsen, despite interest from Newcastle United.
During the summer transfer window, the Old Gold lost numerous key stars such as Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri.
This hasn’t helped this season, suffering four straight defeats, and they sit at the bottom of the Premier League, leaving manager Vitor Pereira with an uphill task of keeping the club up for a second consecutive season.
Vitor Pereira has pledged to change things around at Molineux after doubts over the start to the season, but it remains to be seen as to whether that will work.
As the club searches for solutions on the pitch, there is more drama off it, as the reason why Larsen was pushing for a Newcastle move has finally come to light.
Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen pushed for Newcastle move due to his age
Jorgen Strand Larsen remains sidelined with an achilles injury, having missed the last two defeats against Newcastle and Everton.
The striker has been a key figure under Periera and was equally impressive under former manager Gary O’Neil.

As reported by TheAthletic, Larsen wanted to join Newcastle due to his age, and he felt that if he didn’t get the move now, the opportunity may never come again.
However, Wolves stood firm on their not-for-sale stance and even rejected a £55 million bid from the Champions League club.
The West Midlands outfit are now looking to extend the Norwegian’s contract and rebuff interest from other teams monitoring his situation.
Larsen’s Premier League numbers last season
In his debut season for the club, Larsen showed glimpses of his potential with a solid goal contribution return.
The striker displayed some intelligent movement in the final third, which combined effectively with his ability to hold up the ball and provide a focal point in attack.
New signing Tolo Arokodare impressed on his debut and may even be used in a two-man strike partnership alongside Larsen.

Jorgen Strand Larsen’s 24/25 Premier League statistics
Wolves are clearly missing his presence in the final third this season, and Periera will be itching to have his star man back, although the club will be wary about rushing him back too soon.
With new signings injecting a mixture of pace and creativity, Larsen is likely to have even greater service this season, as he looks to build on his 18-goal contributions from last season.
