It was a subtle middle finger gesture while walking into Allegiant Stadium. We all know he was looking to improve their record to 2–0, but the incident has gone viral for all the wrong reasons. This has turned the normally mild-mannered quarterback into social media’s latest talking point.

Before Monday Night Football kickoff, the NFL posted a short video clip of Herbert arriving at Allegiant Stadium. Dressed in black, AirPods Max on, and carrying his gear, he was just casually going to his locker room.
All was good until the media on the football field caught him on camera flashing a subtle middle finger. The moment was recorded before the Chargers’ 20-9 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.

But now, the clip is not available in the NFL’s X account. However, other social media already saved it in their media folder, and fans are making their opinion clear after the subtle clip ofrumored Madison Beer’s ex BF went viral.
“His middle finger is bigger than my d*ck,”jokedone fan, turning the controversy into meme territory.
A majority wasn’t amused by his arrogant display. “Why? This guy reminds me of Jay Cutler more and more. Doesn’t value the industry and probably will go fuck of on a farm somewhere sooner rather than later,”wrotea frustrated fan, comparing Herbert to the notoriously distant former Bears quarterback.
Some fans showed support for the gesture. “Me to the coworkers when they talk smack about my Cowboys lol,”remarkedanother supporter who appreciated the defiant attitude.

Others questioned Herbert’s mediahandling. “He can’t handle the press or what?” asked one confused fan, while another simplyresponded, “Nah that’s crazy” to the entire situation.
This isn’t Herbert’s first time making the gesture. At Chargers media day in 2023, he did the same thing while moving through interviews, with reporters nearby seeing it. Some fans are visibly unhappy about his repeat behavior, but as the team escaped with a statement win, nobody is making it a major talking point.
Chargers Improve to 2-0 After Dominant Monday Night Victory
It is safe to say that Herbert turned whatever frustration behind his pregame middle-finger gesture into a stellar outing.
He threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns, adding 31 yards on the ground. His highlight play was a 60-yard touchdown to Quentin Johnston that put the team up 17–6 at halftime. Afterbuilding off a superb Week 1 against the Chiefs, seeing him in this form was expected.
He threw 2 touchdowns while Raiders QB Geno Smith struggled with 3 interceptions, allowing the Chargers to ultimately improve to 2-0. The victory puts them first in the AFC West after Kansas City fell to 0-2.
