After eight trophy-laden seasons at the Etihad Stadium, he completed his move to the Turkish side at the end of the transfer window.
Gundogan departed after 358 appearances and 65 goals over two separate periods when he established as a City great.
Pep Guardiola’s first signing, Gundogan helped the Club to five Premier League titles, two FA Cups four League Cups and the Champions League.
And he was captain of City in the historic Treble season of 2022/23, lifting the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League trophies.
A European success came in Istanbul – Gundogan’s new home and a city which means so much to the midfielder.
We caught up with him for an emotional farewell interview at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium and photographer Tom Barton captured his return to the an iconic venue.
