£39m United man breaks silence with two-word Instagram story after goal drought

Manchester United have had a torrid start to their 2025-26 campaign, which has evaporated all the pre-season optimism.

Amad Diallo has been one of several underperformers, struggling to rediscover the spark that once made him a fan favourite.

The 23-year-old dropped a message for United fans on his Instagram story, posting a shot of his failed bicycle-kick attempt.

He captioned it: “It’s temporary”.

Diallo has failed to make his mark this campaign, with zero goal contributions in five matches.

United supporters had hoped he would step up as a talisman following the departures of Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho.

He ended last season in flying form, arguably United’s standout player behind captain Bruno Fernandes.

Across 43 appearances, he chipped in with 11 goals and 10 assists.

Sixteen of those goal involvements came in the Premier League, despite him being overlooked for months under former manager Erik ten Hag.

Current manager Ruben Amorim has kept faith in the Ivorian, but that trust has yet to be repaid.

His post suggests he is aware of his slump in form and wants supporters to believe it is only a passing phase.

The winger has shown flashes of quality both going forward and in tracking back from the right wing-back role.

The £39 million-rated ace seems tailor-made for the role in Amorim’s system, which demands tireless wide players.

The Portuguese head coach is under immense pressure to deliver results and needs his key player to return to form before it is too late.
