Arsenal women’s defender Emily Fox has been shortlisted for the CONCACAF Women’s Player of the Year honour.
She is among six players competing for the prize, which recognises outstanding displays during the 2024/25 campaign. Performances are measured through statistics and expert input.
Nominees are required to represent a CONCACAF Member Association’s senior women’s side or feature for a club in a top division league within the region.
Arsenal and international success
Fox joined Arsenal in 2024 and enjoyed an impressive first season. She was a key part of the United States team that secured Olympic gold last summer. The full-back featured in all six matches during that run.
At club level, she played a central role in Arsenal’s triumph in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Her contributions were also recognised in England, where she earned a place in the PFA Women’s Super League Team of the Year.
Fox’s achievements across club and country have not gone unnoticed. She is also on the shortlist for the Ballon d’Or, adding another highlight to her growing list of honours.
Other names on the shortlist
Jamaican striker Bunny Shaw, who plays for Manchester City, is the other Women’s Super League player in the running.
Shaw enjoyed a remarkable 2024, winning several individual awards and finishing as the league’s top scorer.
Mexico’s Jacqueline Ovalle is also among the final six. She had a strong campaign with Tigres, scoring 28 league goals and helping her side to reach the CONCACAF Women’s Champions Cup final.
She recently signed for Orlando Pride in the NWSL and made an early impact with an assist on her first start against Bay FC.
Other nominees include Mexico’s Charlyn Corral, Haitian midfielder Melchie Dumornay, and Lindsey Heaps of the United States.
Each player earned their place with consistent performances for club and country during the year.
Fox and her Arsenal side have begun the new Women’s Super League season strongly.
The Gunners have won their opening two matches of the 2025/26 campaign, maintaining early momentum in the league.
The winner of the CONCACAF Women’s Player of the Year award will be revealed later in the season. For Fox, the nomination itself marks another step in her rising career at both club and international level.
