The Detroit Lions are heading to the East Coast for a Monday-night showdown with the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3 and the Lions are in an unusual position.
Despite both teams starting 1-1 and winning big in Week 2, the Lions are 6-point road underdogs for the matchup, according to BetMGM odds.
This is the largest betting underdog Detroit has been in the regular season since Week 11 of the 2022 season against the Buffalo Bills, where the Bills were 9.5-point favorites at Ford Field.
While the Lions looked like their old selves against the Chicago Bears — dropping 52 points at home — the memory of their Week 1 struggles against the Green Bay Packers appear to give the Ravens a distinct betting edge for the upcoming matchup.
Baltimore’s offense is averaging 40.5 points per game and the Ravens throttled the Cleveland Browns in Week 2, despite star running back Derrick Henry only rushing for 23 yards in the game.
Monday’s game (8:15 p.m., ABC) marks the 8th all-time meeting of the two teams and it’s leaned heavily toward the Ravens since they joined the NFL in 1996.
Baltimore holds a 6-1 advantage in the series, with five straight wins going back to 2009. In their last meeting in 2023, the Lions lost 38-6 in Baltimore. Detroit has never won a game at the Ravens’ M&T Bank Stadium.
