Crystal Palace have built a squad capable of challenging for Europe but this means that the bigger clubs are starting to circle.

Crystal Palace managed to emerge from the summer transfer window without taking too many hits to a squad that is being watched by some of the biggest clubs in the world.

Oliver Glasner has worked wonders delivering an FA Cup and FA Community Shield as well as securing the club’s status as a team capable of challenging for Europe.

An unbeaten start to the season sees them in a conversation with Chelsea and Liverpool in terms of the only teams yet to lose a game in the Premier League so far. A bit more composure in front of goal and Palace should be looking up the table, rather than over their shoulder.

Adam Wharton decides who he wants to join after Crystal Palace

One player who is a key component of Glasner’s well-drilled system is Adam Wharton, the 21-year old signed from Blackburn Rovers on deadline day in the winter of 2024 and whose value has risen exponentially with a series of impressive performances.

After losing Eberechi Eze to Arsenal, the Eagles would have been delighted to see the summer window shut and see individuals like Wharton and Guehi still at the club.

According to reports in Spain, Wharton has already made his mind up about where he wants to go next season and he could be following his skipper as Fichajes reports: “Adam Wharton's future is beginning to take shape.

“The English midfielder has made clear his preference for signing for Liverpool , despite interest from Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester United. With an asking price of between 60 and 70 million pounds, his transfer promises to be one of the biggest deals of the 2026 market.”

What has Fabrizio Romano said about when Adam Wharton will leave Palace?

Fabrizio Romano spoke about Wharton’s future in the summer with the England international more than happy to commit to the Eagles for at least another season whilst his stock continues to rise.

He said on his YouTube channel: "Manchester United's hopes of signing Crystal Palace and England midfielder Adam Wharton face being put on hold until next summer, according to reports, the rebuild at United is expected to continue in January and next summer.

“Alongside Brighton & Hove Albion's Carlos Baleba, Wharton is one of the Reds' long-term midfield targets, though Palace are understood to want a fee of £80m-£100m.

“I think if something happens, it's going to be after the World Cup, but for sure, the focus of the player is on Crystal Palace. He didn't want to move this summer, and he was not pushing for a move, because he's fully focused on Palace. Then in 2026, I would not be surprised if something happens, because Premier League clubs, but also clubs in Spain, including Real Madrid, are monitoring the boy, and so let's see what's going to happen.”
