Unai Emery has named his Aston Villa starting XI to face Brentford in the Carabao Cup this evening.

He has made seven changes from the team that drew 0-0 with Everton on Saturday.

Marco Bizot returns to the starting lineup and will play behind a defence of Matty Cash, Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres, and Ian Maatsen.

In midfield, Lamare Bogarde and John McGinn will operate in the double pivot, while Jadon Sancho, Harvey Elliott, and Evann Guessand support striker Donyell Malen.

Villa are targeting their first win of the season this evening, having drawn two and lost two of their four league games so far.

A victory tonight would move Emery’s side to within one more win of reaching the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

Villa starting XI: Bizot, Cash, Konsa, Torres, Maatsen, Bogarde, McGinn, Sancho, Elliott, Guessand, Malen.

Subs: Proctor, Mings, Buendia, Watkins, Digne, Jimoh-Aloba, Rogers, Kamara, Borland.

Brentford starting XI: Valdimarsson, Hickey, Van den Berg, Arthur, Ajer, Henry, Janelt, Milambo, Onyeka, Carvalho, Ouattara.

Subs: Kelleher, Schade, Jensen, Nelson, Yarmoliuk, Collins, Lewis-Potter, Damsgaard, Kayode.
