Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson is expected to potentially miss the rest of the season after suffering a serious groin injury that will require surgery, according to multiple reports. That would knock him out of the Bears’ game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in November.
Johnson has been a star for the Bears over the last few years, but it is a huge blow to a secondary that needs all the help it can get each week. He suffered the injury in training camp and missed time before attempting a quick return in Week 2, but an aggravation of the injury made it far worse.
Tyrique Stevenson will be taken with stepping in for him, but the Bears can not afford to lose stars like Johnson for an extended period of time like they did here. If he does miss the rest of the season, he will have played just two quarters of football.
The Steelers have already seen multiple key players for opposing teams go down with injury, including Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy. Johnson is the latest to be removed from the Steelers’ slate that will make their matchups a bit easier.
