**Newcastle United fans have been on tenterhooks for months, hoping for some sort of positive update on what's going to happen with St James' Park.**
It has been an age since we were last given a pie-in-the-sky date of when we'd be given an official update, with the previously mentioned dates of "early 2025" and "the end of the season" now long past, with not a word.
While other clubs seem to be ploughing on with their stadium expansions/new builds, Newcastle have been faffing about for four years now with no end in sight.
But fear not, as Newcastle United have informed the Premier League of an expansion to the St James' Park capacity.

St James' Park's capacity has increased for a second season in a row
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The Shields Gazette's Dominic Scurr has unearthed the documentation showing that Newcastle United's stadium capacity has increased by a whopping six seats since the last campaign.
That should help ease the pressure on the ballots.
As one user on X replied to Dominic, "They'll be celebrating in the public schools of [Dundee](https://nufcfeed.com/newcastle-united-facing-huge-backlash-as-45-champions-league-tickets-sent-to-private-school-in-dundee-1559377)".
Newcastle keep finding space for extra seats
--------------------------------------------
Last season, the Magpies found one extra seat over the previous year, so somehow, they keep finding a bit of extra space to add new seats. We're not sure how they're doing it.
If we keep going, though, we won't need a new stadium; we'll just get to a 65,000 capacity by taking up every inch of space inside the stadium with seats.
Soon, fans in the first row will be told they can't stretch their legs as they'll be encroaching on the playing area.
