Jack Grealish has had the perfect start to his Everton career since arriving on loan from Manchester City.

Grealish won the Premier League Player of the Month award for his Everton exploits, as he notched four assists in three matches in August.

He could not add to that record in Everton’s 0-0 draw with Aston Villa, but calls for Grealish to return to the England squad have increased after his start to life on Merseyside.

However, he still has more work to do, if he is to make it into Thomas Tuchel‘s 2026 World Cup squad.

Jack Grealish can make it back into England squad with Everton showings

Grealish was not called up despite his Everton form, as England beat Andorra and Serbia in the international break, in a painful snub for the 30-year-old.

However, Darke is convinced that Grealish will make the England squad eventually if he keeps playing the way that he has with the Blues.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Darke said: “He’s won a Player of the Month award, hasn’t he.

“I think his reputation needed a coat of paint, he had quite a long barren spell, really what he needs to do now, Jack, is play every week and shine and make the kind of impact that he started making at Everton.

*“If he keeps on doing that, I am sure he will get another England chance somewhere down the line, because he has good quality, but he needs to do it for a bit longer than the first three or four games of the season before Tuchel picks him again.*“

Grealish was last selected by England in a 3-1 win over Finland in October 2024

He has missed the squad for the last eight Three Lions matches

He has 39 caps for the national team

Darke added: “It was 0-0 against Villa, but he has started like a player who has a new lease on life, I think he likes being the big fish in a slightly smaller pool than Man City.

“Not decrying Everton, but for the moment they are a smaller club, he is the marquee name and the poster boy for Everton in the new stadium, that plays to his ego, I don’t think he would deny that.

“That is how you get the best out of Jack Grealish, he likes being the star turn.”

Everton could have four players in the England team

Grealish could be joined by three of his Blues teammates in the squad for the tournament in the United States.

Kiernan-Dewsbury Hall has been in great form, and could be rewarded with a call-up if he maintains his recent performances.

Jarrad Branthwaite could return to the fold after his injury, and James Garner may earn a first call-up if Tuchel takes Moyes’ advice.
