Though he wasn’t quite so effective against Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion, he impressed in the 3-0 derby win over Manchester United.

Reijnders has now spoken about his relationship with new teammate Erling Haaland and how he is looking to become a more effective provider for the £51million man.

Tijjani Reijnders is talking with Erling Haaland in training over how to link up better

Reijnders spoke to the Dutch media after Sunday’s win over Man United, which was his first taste of the Manchester derby.

The Dutchman admits that he and Haaland are communicating regularly in training so they can build the understanding they need to make the team even more dangerous.

“We often talk in training about how we can help each other as much as possible,” Reijnders told Algemeen Dagblad, via Voetbal Primeur.

“By constantly watching each other on the pitch, so we know where the spaces are. That went well against Manchester United. A great feeling for both of us.”

What Tijjani Reijnders is hoping to do more often

Reijnders admitted that he is still getting used to his teammates and vice versa, and his goal is to become even more eagle-eyed so as to set up his teammates.

“It takes time to get used to each other,” the 27-year-old said. “I need to get into those situations more often.

“Every match, I have to look for opportunities to make a through ball. I hope to do that more often from now on.”

Although Reijnders linked play very well in his No. 8 role, he should have scored with good chances in either half.

Admittedly, it’s still early days for Reijnders at the club, and he has already begun well, so it’ll be exciting to see how he develops as a City player.
