Nottingham Forest boss Ange Postecoglou lifts lid on his relationship with Evangelos Marinakis

Ange Postecoglou had his second Nottingham Forest press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Ahead of Nottingham Forest’s trip to Swansea City on Wednesday night, Ange Postecoglou spoke to the media.

Postecoglou confirmed that Murillo is injured and will miss the Carabao Cup clash with what’s been described as a ‘significant knock’.

The former Spurs boss also doubled down on his desire to win silverware this season.

“I got to the semi-finals last year and I think every opportunity you have to win a trophy, you shouldn’t let go. It is hard to win things in football. This cup gives us every opportunity to win some silverware.”

He was asked about his relationship with Evangelos Marinakis, too.

Ange Postecoglou on his relationship with Evangelos Marinakis

A lot’s been made about Postecoglou’s relationship with Marinakis, with some suggesting that’s the main reason he got the job.

He was quick to rubbish those suggestions last week, but was asked how close his contact is with the Greek owner now that he’s in post.

“I haven’t seen him but he’s been good, he has reached out,” Postecoglou admitted.

“He knows the challenge that is before us but he is very ambitious. He supported both the previous managers very, very well and that’s all you can ask for as a manager. I know I will be [supported] and that’s all you can ask for as a manager.”

That’s certainly encouraging to hear, as unity has clearly been restored around the club.

Ange Postecoglou on the new signings

Postecoglou was questioned on whether the new signings would get an opportunity against Swansea tomorrow, and he all but confirmed that will be the case.

“The club invested heavily in the summer, a lot of new players and they haven’t really had a chance to get out there.

“Some of them haven’t played at all and Wednesday is a perfect opportunity to get them out there and give them a feel of what it is like to play for the club while getting some match fitness into them.”

Douglas Luiz is yet to play a single minute, so he will likely get the nod to start, as may Dilane Bakwa, Omari Hutchinson and Arnaud Kalimuendo.

Nicola Savano is also expected to feature, so it should be a pretty telling evening in South Wales.
