Amad breaks silence after Manchester derby disaster, makes promise to Man Utd fans

Manchester United were thrashed on Sunday during the Manchester derby, but there remains a belief that things will come good.

There was a real pre-game confidence at Manchester United ahead of Sunday’s trip to the Etihad, but that quickly went out the window.

Manchester City won the derby 3-0; however, Ruben Amorim remains in his role as head coach, with the statistics proving United are much better than last season.

Against City, United created chances and could have scored goals, with Bryan Mbuemo’s remarkable effort forcing a world-class save out of Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The main difference between the two sides was finishing, and eventually, the midfield. But there was enough to suggest that all is not lost, with a win against Chelsea necessary.

Amad sends a message to Manchester United fans

While there is clearly reason to be frustrated and annoyed at Manchester United right now, the players are clearly not losing hope.

This is evident from Amad’s message sent to fans on Tuesday as he reacted to the defeat on his Instagram story.

The United star wrote: “It’s temporary” on his story, accompanied by a fingers-crossed emoji and also a finger pointing to the sky.

This could have multiple reasons, but we assume that Amad is praying that United’s terrible form is just temporary. The Ivorian believes that things will take a turn sooner or later.

Amad was been almost wasted this season so far in the wing-back role, where he has failed to make an impact.

How Amad has fared for Manchester United this season so far

Last season, Amad was United’s star man, making himself undeniable and one of the first names on the team sheet for Amorim.

This saw Amad sign a new five-year United contract; however, this season, he has not reached anywhere near the same levels thus far with Mbeumo in many ways hindering the Ivorian as the duo want to be in the same positions.

Five games into the season, Amad has failed to score or create a goal yet for United, but his all-around performances have been rated positively.

This suggests it will be a matter of time until he starts contributing as he did during the 2024/25 season.
