Vikings' Justin Jefferson breaks silence on J.J. McCarthy's early struggles

It sounds like former Michigan standout J.J. McCarthy might’ve been dealing with an injury against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night. Unfortunately, McCarthy will be out for the next couple of weeks, according to reports.

Outside of that, McCarthy's first two games in the NFL haven’t exactly gone as planned. Outside of the second half against the Chicago Bears in Week 1, he hasn't looked great. That isn't too much of an issue, however, given how young he is and being two games into his NFL career.

Some believe that Justin Jefferson could start to get frustrated with his play, as he certainly isn't having the games that he typically does.

Despite that, Jefferson spoke about it to the media after Sunday's game, adding that nobody expects McCarthy to be perfect, and that they simply have to continue riding the wave until he gets better.

“That’s the second game. We’re not expecting J.J. to be perfect. We’re not expecting anyone to be perfect,” [Jefferson said](https://www.startribune.com/minnesota-vikings-atlanta-falcons-22-6-nfl-week-2-jj-mccarthy/601471141), per The Minnesota Star Tribune. “But we all expect everyone to do their jobs when it’s time to. Even myself. We just got to go back to work tomorrow and understand it’s a short turnaround and get back to our football. Not playing other people’s football.”

McCarthy should have plenty of time in the league to figure things out. It wouldn't be too surprising to see him do just that once he returns from this injury, depending on the severity.

Regardless, however, Vikings fans are expecting to win games at the highest level, given they were a very good team last season.
