Rúben Amorim immediately broke David Beckham’s‘unwritten rule’after Manchester derby loss amid Sir Jim Ratcliffe sack decision

Ruben Amorim immediately broke Sir David Beckham’s ‘unwritten rule’ after his Manchester United side’s 3-0 defeat in the Manchester derby.

Manchester United played their fourth fixture of the new Premier League season on Sunday, where they travelled to the Etihad for this season’s first instalment of the Manchester derby.

Ruben Amorim’s side had an energetic start to proceedings, but this fizzled out, and in the 18th minute Phil Foden put the home side in front.

This goal from the English midfielder was then followed up with a brace from Erling Haaland to put the Reds to bed, causing much concern surrounding the future of the United manager.

Sir David Beckham gave his say on proceedings following his former side’s defeat to their fierce local rivals, and stated his unwritten rule, which Amorim immediately broke.

Beckham’s thoughts on the derby

On CBS Sports’ Champions League coverage, via United In Focus, the former United man admitted that it was a “very hard watch” to see his side defeated in the manner that they were.

“I did watch the derby,” he said, before adding: “Yeah. Not really [if he wants to talk about it], but I will…

“Today, in all honesty, being an ex-player and a fan of the club, I would hope that they are hurting like we are as fans. And I’m sure they are because they’re professionals. They’re not going out there not wanting to win the game.

“You know, they’ve just come up against a team like City at City and whenever you lose these games, you know you don’t go out for a few weeks because you know you can’t walk around Manchester and bump into United fans because it’s just not a good place to be in, but I don’t know, it was a very hard watch yesterday.

“And like I said, as a United fan, I’m kind of fed up, you know, watching these games and seeing what we’re seeing as fans,” he continued.

Amorim breaks unwritten rule

As seen in a video on X, Amorim was spotted out and about in Manchester following the derby defeat, which is what Beckham highly advised against doing.

After the defeat at the weekend, the Reds now sit in a dismal 14th in the league, although only four fixtures have been played meaning that the table position can be taken with a pinch of salt.

Despite their poor start, Manchester Evening News states, via UtdDistrict, that Amorim retains the support of the United hierarchy, although a close source to the United boss admits that it is ‘incredible’ he is not under threat.

The Portuguese tactician takes on Chelsea next weekend in another tough fixture, with the London outfit yet to lose a game this season.
