Bills look to continue AFC East dominance, Chiefs try to get season back on track in Week 3…

The first two weeks of the NFL season have come and gone, but more football is on the way as Week 3 action begins on Thursday night.

The TSN Network will be showing six games this week, while also streaming all of the biggest plays from around the league Sunday on NFL RedZone.

Here is a game-by-game look at all of the action taking place in Week 3.

Dolphins vs. Bills - Thursday Night Football

The new week kicks off with a bang as Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills look to continue their perfect start to the year against Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins in an AFC East clash on Thursday Night Football.

Watch the Bills host the Dolphins LIVE Thursday at 8:15 p.m. ET / 5:15 p.m. PT across the TSN Network, streaming on TSN.ca and the TSN App.

Allen overcame a bloody nose in Week 2 to help his team cruise to a convincing 30-10 win over the New York Jets.

The reigning NFL MVP was sidelined for a pair of plays to end the first quarter, but returned shortly after being attended to by team trainers.

Allen attempted just 25 pass attempts in the win, with running back James Cook carrying the load offensively with 132 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.

Cook is now tied for the league lead with three scores across the first two weeks of the season and could be in position for another big outing this week against a Dolphins defence that has surrendered an average of 139 yards per game on the ground and three rushing touchdowns this year.

Buffalo has owned the division in recent years with a 24-6 record against AFC East opponents since 2020, a trend they will look to continue in Week 3.

The Dolphins enter play Thursday at 0-2 as they continue their search for their first win of the season.

Miami was walloped 33-8 by the Indianapolis Colts to begin the year, before dropping a tightly contested game against the New England Patriots last week.

The Dolphins held a 71.3 per cent win probability with 7:18 remaining in the fourth quarter after Malik Washington’s punt-return touchdown, but would lose the lead almost immediately after with Antonio Gibson taking the ensuing kickoff to the end zone.

The Pats would hold on for their first win of the year, sending Miami to an 0-2 start for the first time since 2020.

In that 2020 season, the Dolphins also played on Thursday Night Football in Week 3 and earned their first win of the season against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Fins have previously started 0-3 just eight times across their 60-year history, missing the playoffs in each season.

Rams vs. Eagles –

Sunday’s action on the TSN Network begins with a pair of undefeated teams going head-to-head as Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams take to the road for a matchup against Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch of last year’s NFC Divisional Round thriller.

Watch the Rams take on the Eagles LIVE Sunday at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT on TSN1/3, TSN.ca, and the TSN App.

Jalen Hurts

Philadelphia was victorious in last year’s playoff meeting thanks to Saquon Barkley’s 206-yard, two-touchdown performance, as well as a late redzone stop from the Eagles defence to secure the win.

After surviving the late push from the Rams, the Philadelphia would go on to dominate the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship and Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl for their second title in franchise history.

The Eagles have opened the year with a pair of impressive victories over the Dallas Cowboys and Chiefs, and will aim to once again assert their dominance over the league with a showdown against one of the top teams in the NFC.

Barkley and Hurts have carried the load offensively this year with five total touchdowns to open the season, tied for the most among teammates in the league.

While the Eagles’ rushing attack has remained lethal in the early part of the year, the passing game has taken a step back with just 119.0 yards per game, down from their mark of 181.5 last year.

Top wideouts A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith have combined for just 104 yards this season, and Hurts is the only starting quarterback to have not thrown for a touchdown through two weeks of action.

While Philly have struggled to move the ball through the air, the Rams’ passing attack has looked among the best in the league with Stafford posting the sixth-highest passing yardage mark in the league (543).

The team swapped out Cooper Kupp with Davante Adams over the offseason and have seen immediate returns with 10 receptions for 157 yards and a touchdown in his first two games with the organization.

Adams is joined by Nacua, the league leader in receptions, in forming one of the highest-powered receiver duos in football with both figuring to play prominent roles in the matchup.

After a pair of wins over the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans to begin the year, Los Angeles will look to go 3-0 for the first time since 2021, the year they won the Super Bowl over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Packers vs. Browns –

Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers carry an undefeated 2-0 record into a road matchup against Joe Flacco and the Cleveland Browns.

Subscribe to TSN+ to watch the Packers play the Browns LIVE Sunday at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT.

Jordan Love

The Packers opened the year with two wins over playoff teams last season, dispatching the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders with relative ease.

Love and Josh Jacobs have led the way for the Packers offence to 27.0 points per game, the sixth-best mark in the league.

Love has not thrown regular-season interception since Week 11 last year, while Jacobs has found the end zone in each of his last 11 games played.

Jayden Reed suffered a broken collarbone in the team’s win over the Commanders last week, but third-yea tight end Tucker Kraft shouldered the load with 124 receiving yards and a touchdown to pace all Green Bay pass-catchers.

Since acquiring Micah Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys in the days leading up to the new season, the Packers rank third in yards per game (238.0), fourth in opponents points per game (15.5), and first in yards given up per play (3.7).

The Packers held the Lions and Commanders to just 13 and 18 points, respectively, after both offences finishes the 2024 regular season in the top six in points scored last season.

The vaunted Green Bay defence will look to keep Flacco and the Browns at bay, an offence that ranks in the bottom third of league.

In his return to Baltimore last weekend, Flacco was overwhelmed by the Ravens to the tune of 25-of-45 passing, one touchdown, one interception, a fumble, and two sacks in a lopsided 41-17 loss.

While in a losing effort, it was a big week for Browns rookies as Quinshon Judkins impressed in his debut with 61 yards on 10 carries, Dylan Sampson found the end zone for the first time in his NFL career, and Dillon Gabriel threw for his first touchdown in relief of Flacco.

The Browns are 0-2 for the first time under head coach Kevin Stefanski, but the sixth-year head coach has already stated that Flacco will remain the starter, keeping Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders on the sidelines for the foreseeable future.

Cleveland has started the season 0-3 10 times in their history, missing the playoffs in each year.

NFL RedZone also gets started during Sunday’s early window, bringing viewers every score, turnover, and big play from around the league.

Broncos vs. Chargers –

Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers put their undefeated record on the line as they take on Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos in an AFC West divisional game.

Watch the Broncos take on the Chargers LIVE Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET / 1:05 p.m. PT on TSN1, TSN.ca, and the TSN App.

Justin Herbert

The Chargers are coming off of back-to-back wins over divisional opponents in the Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders and will look to make a statement in the early stages of the year with a perfect start to the AFC West gauntlet.

Herbert has looked the part of a franchise quarterback to open the year, throwing for 560 yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions.

2023 first-round pick Quentin Johnston has looked like a star to begin his third year, recording 150 yards and three touchdowns on just eight catches.

Keenan Allen has re-entered the fray following a one-year stint with the Chicago Bears and has immediately found his old rapport with Herbert as the two have combined for a pair of scores and 129 yards in their first two games back as teammates.

The defence, led by Khalil Mack and Derwin James, forced three turnovers in last week’s win over the Raiders, while only allowing 282.5 yard per game, the seventh-best average through two weeks.

The Broncos are coming off of a heartbreaking 29-28 loss to the Indianapolis Colts after a missed field goal was called back due to a leverage penalty, giving their opponents another chance and 15 extra yards to win the game.

Bo Nix rebounded nicely from a poor season-opener by completing 73.3 per cent of his passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns, helping drive the offence up and down the field with the help of JK Dobbins, who added 76 yards and a score on 14 carries.

Patrick Surtain II anchors one of the top defensive units in the sport from the cornerback position, while Nik Bonitto has buoyed the pass rushes almost single-handedly, recording a whopping 15 pressures through two games.

Chiefs vs. Giants – Sunday Night Football

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs look to get their season back on the rails with a Sunday Night Football matchup against Russell Wilson and the New York Giants.

Watch the Chiefs play the Giants on Sunday Night Football LIVE on TSN1/3/5, TSN.ca, and the TSN App.

Patrick MahomesPatrick Mahomes Kansas City Chiefs

Since 1979, just six teams have made the playoffs after starting the season with an 0-3 record, making this game vital for both winless teams in Week 3.

Kansas City is 0-2 for the first time in the Mahomes era and are in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time since 2014.

The Chiefs were beaten in a rematch of Super Bowl LIX last week by the Philadelphia Eagles after another game of struggling on offence.

The Chiefs were down their top two receivers in Xavier Worth (dislocated shoulder) and Rashee Rice (suspension), but threw for just 187 yards and is the team’s leading rusher through the first two weeks of the year.

“It’s kind of been throughout the whole team,” Mahomes said after the game. “We just — it’s one guy here or there. It’s not like we’re missing by much. I know it sucks to hear it for the fans, but I feel like we’re close.”

The dynasty Chiefs that were on the cusp of winning their third consecutive Super Bowl last February, and fourth in six seasons, have looked out of sorts to begin the new year but will look to clean things up and potentially save their season with a win on Sunday Night Football.

The Giants were downed by their NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys in overtime last week, but the offence showed serious sings of life with Russell Wilson under centre, a far cry from the team’s performance in Week 1.

Wilson threw for 450 yards and three touchdowns in the loss, perhaps delaying the succession of Jaxson Dart as the team’s starter for a while longer.

The 35-year-old signal caller was able to find No. 1 wide receiver Malik Nabers for two long touchdowns, including one to take the lead with just 25 seconds left in the forth quarter that should have sealed the victory.

Instead, the Giants headed home with an 0-2 record, but with a newfound sense of hope that Wilson can be the quarterback he once was in his time with the Seattle Seahawks.

Lions vs. Ravens – Monday Night Football

Week 3 in the NFL wraps up with a potential Super Bowl preview as Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens play host to Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football.

Watch the Ravens battle the Lions LIVE Monday at 8:15 p.m. ET / 5:15 PT across the TSN Network, streaming on TSN.ca and the TSN App.

Lamar Jackson

Jackson and the Ravens responded to a devastating Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills with a statement divisional win over the Cleveland Browns to earn their first win of the season.

Jackson threw for 225 yards and four touchdowns in the win, throwing his name in the ring for the early front-runner for the Most Valuable Player award.

According to ESPN research, this is just the fifth time in the past 20 seasons that a quarterback has produced at least seven total touchdowns without recording a turnover in the first two weeks of the season. There have been four quarterbacks to previously accomplish that feat, with all of them later taking home the MVP award at season’s end.

Jackson, alongside Derrick Henry, have led the highest-scoring offence in the league this year at 40.5 points per game. Baltimore is now just the sixth team since 1980 to score at least 40 points in each of their first two games to open the year.

The Lions offence is also among the highest-scoring in the NFL, as seen by their 52-point explosion over the Chicago Bears last week.

After losing offensive coordinator Ben Johnson over the offseason, Goff and the Lions welcomed him back to Ford Field with seven touchdowns on offence, including three to Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery, and Jameson Williams also added scores of their own, while Goff finished his day with 334 passing yards and five touchdown passes, the most among QBs this season.

Both sitting at 1-1 on the year, Baltimore and Detroit will be looking to make a statement with a win while the rest of the league watches on.
