“The Chiefs have signed LB Cole Christiansen to the practice squad,” Jacobs relayed on Tuesday evening. To free up room for Christiansen, KC “terminated the practice squad contract of WR Hal Presley.”
For those who don’t know, Christiansen is one of Kansas City’s favorite on-again, off-again practice squad reserves and fill-in special teamers. The former Army alum has been seesawing on and off the Chiefs’ roster since 2022, and he has two Super Bowl rings to show for his services.
Prior to his various stints with KC, Christiansen spent some time with the division rival Los Angeles Chargers.
Over the past few years, Christiansen has appeared in 15 regular season games with the Chiefs, as well as 3 playoff outings. He knows special teams coordinator Dave Toub’s operation inside and out at this point, and that seems to be enough for Kansas City to continue bringing him back.
The Week 3 signing is just the latest example.

Similar to Christiansen, Presley is becoming another go-to practice squad gymnastics candidate for the Chiefs.
The rookie wide receiver first signed with KC this summer after impressing in a tryout. The opportunity occurred just after Justyn Ross requested to be released.
Although Presley failed to make the 53-man roster, he briefly re-signed on a practice squad deal, but it didn’t last.
Since his initial release, Presley has already seesawed on and off the practice squad roster. It’s a safe bet that we have not seen the last of the 6-foot-3 rookie pass-catcher.
As for his background before entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent, Presley spent all four of his collegiate seasons at Baylor. He recorded a career-high 429 receiving yards in 2024, with 1,048 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns over his collegiate career.
