Premier League troubleshooter backed to succeed Ruben Amorim at Manchester United

Sean Dyche continues to be linked with the Manchester United hotseat

Manchester United have been going through some rough patches on the pitch. And the pressure has been building on Ruben Amorim from the supporters, given how the points have not been aggregating at M16 since the Portuguese arrival.

We saw that performance that the Manchester Reds had in the derby last weekend. The former Sporting Lisbon manager saw his current employers smashed by a 3-0 margin, which makes it only four points from a possible 12 since the ongoing 2025/26 Premier League campaign kicked off.

And that underwhelming start to the season was made worse for Man United when they were eliminated in the Carabao Cup. Man United saw themselves humiliated after that defeat by League Two side Grimsby Town. They had a 2-0 lead in the game at one point and went on to knock United out on penalties.

Now as the chiefs at Carrington start lining up potential replacements for the Portuguese head coach at the helm. A list of quite a few top prospects have been discussed among the supporters, with the likes of Oliver Glasner and Iraola leading the way.

But former QPR striker Charlie Austin thinks that United should instead get someone like Sean Dyche at the helm at M16.

He said (via. Manchester Evening News):

“In my honest opinion, you have to look at the job Sean Dyche did at Burnley, what he did at Everton. For me, he stabilised the club, at least he’s going to put structure in there.”

The former Burnley manager was relieved of his duties last January at Everton. He had pushed the Blues side to avoid relegation two seasons in a row. But the arrival of the Friedkin Group at the helm led to his eventual dismissal.

WAFU Opinion

Sean Dyche continues to be linked with the Manchester United hotseat.

Ruben Amorim remains under tremednous pressure after Manchester Derby loss.

The thing with Dyche is that he might not be a cream name with modern tactics, but he is a no-nonsense manager. Something that United have lacked for years at M16.

But while pressure continues to build on Amorim, we need to also understand that a couple of results his way can give him that breathing room which he desperately needs.

Many would agree about how bad United played in the Manchester Derby, but Chelsea this weekend is equally important for the man on the touchline.
