ESPN analyst risks job to say NFL fixing game for Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are one of the NFL’s most lucrative franchises. The Chiefs have made it to five of the last six Super Bowls, won three of them, and have Travis Kelce on their active roster, the same Travis Kelce who just so happens to be engaged to global pop sensation Taylor Swift, who the league has made sure to market at every opportunity.

This means that the Chiefs continuing their slow start to the season could have some serious financial implications for the league. Now, ahead of the Chiefs’ next game against the New York Giants, one ESPN analyst is saying that the league will make sure the Chiefs finally get into the win column.

“The league won’t allow it. I’m just going to throw it out there. The NFL is not going to allow the Chiefs to start 0-3. There’s too much on the line. I’m sorry,” Dan La Greca from ESPN NY said, [according to Awful Announcing](https://awfulannouncing.com/radio/don-la-greca-chiefs-beat-giants-ensure-fix-espn-new-york.html).

“Call me a conspiracy theorist. ESPN can fire me. The NFL is not going to allow the Kansas City Chiefs to lose that game on national television to be 0-3. That’s not going to happen.”

Peter Rosenberg, La Greca’s co-host, tried to pump the brakes, but La Greca was adamant and doubled down.

“I’m telling you, we’re going to sit here on next Monday,” La Greca said. “We’re going to sit there and we’re going to say there’s going to be at least, I’m telling you, there’s going to be at least three calls where we’re like, ‘How did that happen?’”

“The Chiefs are not going 0-3,” he went on. “They will not allow it… I’m having a lot of fun right now.”

“They’ve already done it. The NFL has already done it. They did with the schedule,” he continued. “Roger Goodell’s looking at the schedule going ‘Wait a minute, we’re putting them in a bit of a tough spot… Guys, you got to give me a layup here for my boys in week three.”

It’ll be interesting to see if La Greca faces any consequences for his words.
