The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and quarterback Baker Mayfield got off to a 2-0 start to the season after thier go-ahead drive took the lead and left only six seconds in regulation in Monday night’s contest against the Houston Texans.
As great as Monday night’s win was for Tampa Bay, it’s been overshadowed by some sombering injury news that will have some serious implications for the rest of the Buccaneers’ season.
“Sources: #Bucs DT Calijah Kancey will miss the rest of the season with a pectoral injury suffered on Monday night vs. the Texans. The former first-round pick is a huge piece of Tampa’s defense,” [reported Jordan Schultz on Tuesday.](https://x.com/Schultz_Report/status/1967991126402666619)
Fasn reacted to the news on social media.
“Why does this team always have so many injuries? Just bad luck or is their conditioning lacking?” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Man this guy cannot stay healthy. Feel bad for him,” someone else added.
“These are usually full thickness tears of where the pec/chest tendon attaches to the upper arm. Traditionally these need to be surgically reattached, which are season-ending. There’s a possibility he got lucky and this is a partial tear, which will respond to stem cells, which take about 6 to 8 weeks to return to play,” a doctor wrote on Twitter.
Hopefully, Kancey will make a full recovery.
