Brighton decided to part ways with technical director David Weir, as the former Everton player’s stance on a return to Merseyside has emerged.
The Friedkin Group have a good thing going behind the scenes at Everton, but there could always be the possibility for a shake-up.
A new door could open after Weir left Brighton after seven successful years with the Seagulls.
Weir, who made 266 appearances for the Toffees, played a major role under David Moyes before leaving in 2007.
The former star loved his time playing at Goodison Park, as Everton wanted Weir to replace Kevin Thelwell as Director of Football, but although that was back in January, new interest could emerge.

David Weir is ‘very open’ to Everton role after shock Brighton exit
When claims came out that the former Blues star was looking at the potential role at the club, Everton fans were excited by Weir after his work with the Seagulls.
Of course, a move didn’t materialise with the Toffees taking a different direction, but now speaking to Everton.News, Graeme Bailey has revealed the likelihood of a return, as Weir seems intrigued.
“David Weir is ready to get back into football, and a few options are presenting themselves,” Bailey said.

“Sheffield United have shown an interest, but Everton are another who have an interest in him.
“Clearly, he has that relationship with the club and comes with a hugely impressive CV from his time at Brighton. Weir would be very open to move to the Hill Dickinson.”
The former centre-back had some great moments with the club, and it could be the perfect fit for him to return.
Although there could be complications with Everton’s current background team, Weir’s CV might be too good to turn down.
David Weir can recreate the next Moises Caicedo with Everton return
Weir has been at the club before, not only as a player but also as a coach with the club’s academy in 2012.
Funnily enough, when Moyes left the first time, the former Brighton director was interviewed for the vacant Everton position before Roberto Martinez got the privilege.
However, management clearly wasn’t the role for the Scot, as he instead went down the technical director route, and played his role in some impeccable transfers at Brighton after being appointed.

Moises Caicedo £4 million £115 million
Marc Cucurella £16 million £63 million
Joao Pedro £30 million £60 million
Alexis Mac Allister £7.8 million £35 million

Although the Toffees ditched the Director model for a CEO, Weir could still find a role in the background, judging by his credentials and knowledge of the club.
Weir could be the ‘experienced’ leader Everton need and potentially recreate some of these signings at the club, like Moises Caicedo’s incredible £111 million profit.
Talks could soon take place behind the scenes, but some sort of position will need to be found for the former Blues man.
