Italian journalist Riccardo Trevisani insists Inter Milan would have secured their goalkeeping position for a long time had they signed Gianluigi Donnarumma before he joined Manchester City in the summer window.

Last season, the Italy international played a key part in helping Paris Saint-Germain win the treble and make it to the Club World Cup final, which they lost to Chelsea.
He entered his final year of contract and [PSG advisor Luis Campos](https://sportwitness.co.uk/when-you-deserve-it-advisor-on-manchester-city-player-asking-for-more-money/) said they refused to meet his salary demands to renew the contract. Luis Enrique had also left the 26-year-old out of his plans, allowing Manchester City to complete his signing on deadline day.
In the summer window, the Serie A club tried signing Ademola Lookman from Atalanta, but weren’t successful and didn’t end up bringing in a new stopper. They have 36-year-old Yann Sommer as the first choice with Josep Martínez and Raffaele Di Gennaro two others in the squad.
Sommer and Di Gennaro both have contracts expiring in 2026 and Trevisani believes the former AC Milan man would have been a long-term fix for Inter.
