Thomas Frank wanted to sign Vanderson at Brentford
TBR Football understands that over the weekend, Tottenham sent scouts to watch Monaco versus Auxerre in Ligue 1.
The North London club were there to watch the trio of Maghnes Akliouche, Vanderson and Lamine Camara from the away team.
Tottenham wanted Akliouche this summer in their hunt for an attacker, and they could return for the 23-year-old in January.
But, Vanderson was a player whom Frank wanted to bring to Brentford before he eventually moved to AS Monaco in 2022.
During Spurs’ scouting trip to France, Vandreson really impressed and was named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Week for his performance.
TBR Football can reveal that Brentford came close to signing the Brazilian, however, he opted for a move to France instead in a deal worth around £10 million.
During the summer transfer window, Monaco valued Vanderson at £30 million, with Spurs among the clubs having taken a look at him.
After the disappointment of missing out on him back in January 2022, the Danish manager could finally bring him to the Premier League and Tottenham.
Tottenham will face Vanderson and Maghnes Akliouche in the Champions League
Tottenham will face both Vanderson and Akliouche in the Champions League when they travel away to Monaco in the competition.
The North London club are due to make the trip to Southern France towards the end of October in Matchday three.
Spurs could well be after both positions in January, given their lack of full-back cover and having been after a top winger towards the end of the window.
Savinho appeared to be Tottenham’s top target in the summer for the left wing, but perhaps that could change across the remainder of 2025.
