'What a baller': Leeds star reacts as his brother scores an absolute screamer in Champions League clash

For most families, having a professional footballer as a relative is incredibly rare. Two is remarkable, and yet, one Leeds United player watched his brother score in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Leeds are busy preparing for Wolves with Daniel Farke’s objective simply to survive in the Premier League this season. Consolidate and establish Leeds as a Premier League club after two years in the second tier.

It has started as many would expect, four points from four games. Continue that rate, and Leeds should have enough to remain in the Premier League come next May. Dreams of Europe are still years away.

Long gone are the days of Champions League and UEFA Cup action at Elland Road, but Leeds do have the potential to get back there one day. For now, one Leeds player has to suffice with watching his brother.

The Champions League returned last night and it saw Tottenham beat Manor Solomon’s Villarreal, it saw Real Madrid overcome Marseille despite going down to 10 men, and it saw Dortmund do battle with Juve.

A quite incredible game, that saw Juventus go into injury time with the scoreline reading 4-2 to the away side in Turin. Not many had Dortmund winning the game, but certainly, plenty of goals were expected.

Among Dortmund’s scorers was Felix Nmecha, Lukas’ brother, who curled a gorgeous effort into the top corner for Dortmund’s second. Eight goals came in the second half as the two sides drew 4-4 in Turin.

Dusan Vlahovic scored his second of the night on 94 minutes, before the Serbian striker curled in a cross for former Newcastle and Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly to equalise for Igor Tudor’s side late on.

Lukas meanwhile, remains Leeds’ only Premier League goalscorer this season. Leeds have only managed one goal in the top flight in their four games, and it came from a late penalty to beat Everton in August.

Nmecha has played in the Champions League before, scoring two goals in five appearances for German side Wolfsburg. But for now, he has to contend with a rotational role at Leeds, fighting against relegation.

He reacted to his brother’s goal with nothing but pride, and love. A truly wonderful goal, one of those that starts outside the frame of the goal but curls back in. Nmecha described his brother as “a baller”.
