A Manchester United target who was an alternative to Benjamin Sesko in the summer window has spoken out about the transfer speculation surrounding him.
Benjamin Sesko emerged on Manchester United’s transfer radar in the later stages of the summer window amid the Red Devils’ pursuit of a new striking option.
A former target for Arsenal, the 22-year-old Slovenian was the subject of fierce interest from Newcastle and the Magpies even made two bids to sign him this summer.
However, the Red Devils hijacked Newcastle’s transfer pursuit of Sesko and United landed the Slovenia international from German outfit RB Leipzig in August.
United signed former RB Leipzig striker Sesko for an initial fee of £66.3m, with add-ons taking the summer transfer deal to £73.7m for the ex-RB Salzburg talent.

The Juventus striker has entered the final 12 months of his contract at the Turin-based club and United target Vlahovic will become a free agent next summer.
The Serie A outfit had been open to selling Vlahovic in the summer, with Juventus keen to recoup a transfer fee for him and offload his wages from their books.
Speaking after Juventus’ thrilling 4-4 draw against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, Vlahovic has spoken out about the transfer noise around him.
“It has not been an easy time for me, there was talk every day, many things that I can say now, 99 per cent of which was [sic] nowhere close to reality,” he told Sky Sport Italia, as per Football Italia.
“That can disturb a person, but I found strength in this and every day you must prove yourself, to always be hungry.
“I am never satisfied, so today I scored two goals and provided an assist, but I wanted a third.
“The expectations are always high for myself and that pushes me on. I play for a marvellous team, one of the most important clubs in the world, and I cannot complain.
“I just have to knuckle down, put myself at the disposal of the team and keep going.”

Man Utd-linked Dusan Vlahovic shows his elite mentality after his Juventus masterclass in the Champions League
Dusan Vlahovic played a major role for Juventus in the Serie A club’s opening Champions League match of the 2025-26 campaign on Tuesday in Turin.
The Serbia international netted a superb brace in the second half before picking up a crucial assist for Lloyd Kelly’s all-important injury-time equaliser for Juventus.
Vlahovic spotlighted his fighting spirit as a striker after his masterclass performance in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Stadium.
“Naturally, there is criticism when a striker doesn’t score goals,” he added.
“I used to struggle more with that when I was younger, but I am maturing and improving, I’m learning to deal with that better and believe I can continue to improve.
“I have to train harder than anyone and be ready when called upon.”
Vlahovic is free to speak with clubs outside of Italy in January 2026 and to sign a pre-contract agreement ahead of a potential exit from Juventus next summer.
