Playing at centre-forward, he guided a precise finish into the bottom corner to open the scoring in the 2-1 win at Sutton United in the National League Cup.
That followed a recent hat-trick against West Brom in Premier League 2 which helped him to a nomination for the league’s player of the month piece.
He also put away a well-taken winner in the first National League Cup game at Aldershot.
Those goals mean his name will have been noticed by Albion fans always looking out for the next big thing.
But Shannon Ruth says he is not necessarily a striker.
The under-21s head coach said: “Shane came in around 13, 14 so he has been in our programme for a little while.
“Normally he has played a little bit deeper but, with the midfield players we have, we have played him a little bit higher.
“He has shown probably this season that he has got a real eye for goal.
“But he is a wonderful team player.
“He has got really good ability but can also play any of the roles in midfield.
“So having that versatility helps the team but also helps him.
The under-21s face Derby at the training complex in Lancing on Friday (7pm).
They also have a confirmed date at the Amex with tickets on sale now for the visit of Middlesbrough in PL2 on Saturday, October 4 (4pm).
