Manchester United Injury misery piles up ahead of Manchester Derby

The Premier League’s most heated and historic rivalry is all set to occur in the coming weekend as it signifies the long-awaited Manchester Derby. However, all is not good for the Red devils as Manchester United suffers from major injury setbacks that may be detrimental to their success in this fixture and may in fact change the club fortune for both the teams.

Manchester United Injury – Nightmare Fuel

Manchester United has not made a great start to the Premier League this season. Having faced series of problems on the pitch, which again is reflective of their performances as of late, the Red Devils have been able to scrape of a win in their last match. However, the team had to suffer setbacks with three of the players losing game-time due to injury while some returning to the squad. United though had a ray of hope in the time they got to prepare for the Manchester Derby (2 weeks) and are hoping to beat their Manchester counterpart. Manchester city also has not been up to their best as well since their two losses in such early part of the season and hopefully want to regain some momentum as well for them. Both Manchester City and United is eying on the Champions League spot on the very least.

The Squad Renewal Journey

The international break has helped Manchester United a lot and along with that the return of Noussair Mazraoui is a good indicator for them in the coming match. Mazraoui has been a regular to the squad in both Ten Hag’s and Amorim tenure with the player suffering injury in the final match against Aston Villa. Although Mazraoui returned to the squad in the win against Burnley, he has yet to prove himself, and he may showcase it in the coming match. Mazraoui has been vocal about his experience in the Premier League and has promised to be a better player than last season. “The Premier League is a bigger demand than other competitions, so you must take even more of your body. I had a switch in my mindset – be fit and ready and I think that helped me play so many games” – said Mazraoui .

Manchester United bitter sweet Injury End

Manchester United has suffered the loss of two pivotal players, Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount, dealing a significant blow to the squad. Cunha’s attacking dynamism and Mount’s versatility in midfield have driven United’s recent performances, and their absence will create a noticeable void. By losing players of such influence and consistency, United compromises both its creative edge and tactical balance. These setbacks will inevitably weigh on the team’s prospects in the crucial fixtures ahead. “It was hard to lose a player like Cunha and Mason Mount – Mount played like 30 minutes with an injury” – said Ruben Amorim. Manchester United will however rejoice at the coming back of Lisandro Martinez and is hoping that this will boost their defensive line up and help them in the match.Lisandro Martinez has been suffering from ACL injury since February but now has fully recovered and is back on his feet.

Author’s Opinion

Manchester United will have an uphill task ahead in this upcoming fixture, yet all hope is not lost as Manchester City themselves is also faltering at the very least. The upcoming match will purely be on which team utilises the current squad the most. Both teams are in dire need of victory, with only tactics and strategy being the final trump card. Although it is Manchester City advantage due to match being in Etihad Stadium, The Red Devils would surely like to spoil the home party of their Noisy Neighbours.
