Bleazard appointed Cherries head coach after unbeaten start

Bleazard was appointed interim head coach after Steve Cuss stepped down, after she retired from playing having helped the side to back-to-back unbeaten season in the National League Division One South West.

Her playing career spanned more than two decades and she was instrumental in the first of those two season, playing 17 times and scoring ten goals before injury brought her season to a close.

The former defender announced her retirement in the summer, after representing Yeovil Town, Bristol Academy, Chelsea and Plymouth Argyle across the Women’s Super League and National League.

Bleazard played in two FA Cup finals and played Champions League football with Bristol, representing England at youth level before going on to achieve 43 senior caps for Wales including in European Championship and World Cup qualifiers.

She currently coaches in the Cherries academy and is working towards her FA Advanced Youth Award.

The Cherries' sensational start this term has seen Bleazard nominated for National League Premier Division manager of the month for August.

She told afcb.co.uk after her appointment: “It’s a huge honour to take charge of AFC Bournemouth women.

“This club has given me so much over the past few years and I’m excited to help continue its growth.

“We have a talented, ambitious squad and I’m looking forward to working with the players to achieve our goals this season.”
