Anthony Elanga and Dan Ndoye respond as Ola Aina issues injury update at Nottingham Forest

Ola Aina’s hamstring injury was a significant blow to Nottingham Forest, with Anthony Elanga and Dan Ndoye sending their support after the right-back issued an update.

Aina was injured on Nigeria duty during the international break, hobbling off the pitch against South Africa with a knock that’s severity would become clearer in the following days.

Just as Ange Postecoglou arrived at the club, it was revealed that Aina would be out for at least three months due to a hamstring issue, unsettling the Reds’ defence that picked itself last season.

Due to the seriousness of the damage, Aina has had surgery on his hamstring, with the right-back taking to social media to issue an update for the City Ground faithful.

Postecoglou was excited to work with Aina as he saw him as someone who would be perfect for his attacking style, so the Australian must’ve been particularly frustrated by the news.

Aina’s recovery is in full swing, though, as the Nigerian international keeps supporters updated through his active social media channels.

He said on Instagram: “A massive thank you to the club, my teammates, and all the fans for the incredible support over the past few days, it’s meant a lot. I’ll be working hard every day to get back out there as soon as possible and can’t wait to be back on the pitch at the City Ground.”

This support hasn’t just been private, though, with current and former members of the Forest squad replying to his update in the comments.

It’s expected that Aina will be removed from Forest’s Europa League squad for the league phase, so he’ll be desperate to see his teammates do well so he can experience the competition he played a significant role in Forest qualifying for.

His efforts are clearly recognised by his teammates, with both Dan Ndoye and Ryan Yates replying to the Instagram update with heart emojis.

Former Red Elanga also sent his support, saying: “You’ll come back stronger my boy.”

With Postecoglou now in charge of Forest, the City Ground may feel very different when Aina does return, but his importance to the squad will remain the same.
