Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has raised some eyebrows by posing for a photoshoot alongside a pitbull while wearing a Michael Vick jersey. Vick was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison for dogfighting back in 2007.

Michael Vick’s conviction for dogfighting is one of the most infamous black marks in modern NFL history as Vick was one of the faces of the National Football League before being sent to Northern Neck Regional Jail in Warsaw, Virginia for almost two years.

While Vick was able to return to the NFL and rehabilitate his image, Murray’s decision to make such a direct reference to his infamous crime has left most football fans scratching their heads. Murray was also seen sporting the outfit ahead of the Cardinals’ Week 2 home matchup against the Carolina Panthers, which they won by a score of 27-22.

“Kyler really is posted up with a pitbull in a Vick Jersey. Insane work dawg 😭,” read a viral post on Twitter reacting to the photos.

“Kyler Murray posting a picture with his pitbull while wearing a Mile Vick jersey. How stupid and tone deaf can you get?” another tweet asked.

Murray and the Cardinals have gotten off to a solid start this season as the team is 2-0 following wins over the Panthers and New Orleans Saints. In those two games, Murray has completed 38 of 54 passes (70.4%) for 383 yards, three touchdowns and one interceptions, while also rushing for 70 yards.

The Cardinals will face their toughest test of the young 2025 season this weekend as they’ll head up to San Francisco to take on the 2-0 49ers.

As for Vick, after closing out his NFL career with the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers (he retired in 2015), he is currently the head football coach at Norfolk State University and has began his career with a 1-2 record (as of September 17).
